Review Form / Evaluation Criteria

Reviewers should evaluate manuscripts submitted to the International Journal of Social Studies in Sport (IJSSS) according to the following criteria:

  • relevance to the aims and scope of IJSSS

  • originality and scholarly contribution

  • clarity of the research problem, rationale, and objectives

  • strength and relevance of the theoretical or conceptual framework

  • appropriateness of the research design and methodology

  • adequacy of the sample, participants, data sources, or study context

  • appropriateness and transparency of data collection and analysis procedures

  • quality and clarity of the presentation of findings

  • depth and accuracy of interpretation

  • consistency between findings, discussion, and conclusions

  • consideration of study limitations

  • relevance of theoretical, practical, managerial, educational, social, or policy implications

  • ethical compliance

  • accuracy, relevance, and currency of references

  • clarity, coherence, organization, and academic quality of the manuscript

Reviewers should provide clear and constructive comments that explain the basis of their evaluation and, where appropriate, identify specific revisions that may improve the manuscript.

Overall Recommendation

Reviewers may recommend one of the following:

  • Accept

  • Minor Revision

  • Major Revision

  • Reject

Reviewer recommendations are advisory. The final editorial decision is made by the Editor-in-Chief or the assigned editor after considering the reviewer reports, academic quality, originality, relevance to the journal, and compliance with editorial and ethical requirements.
