Plagiarism and Similarity Policy

All manuscripts submitted to the International Journal of Social Studies in Sport (IJSSS) are screened for plagiarism and text similarity during the editorial evaluation process and, when necessary, at later stages of peer review.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that their submissions are original, properly referenced, and free from plagiarism, duplicate publication, inappropriate citation practices, and unethical reuse of previously published material.

Similarity reports are evaluated by the editorial team based not only on the overall similarity percentage, but also on the source, extent, and context of the identified similarities. A high or low similarity percentage alone does not automatically determine the editorial decision.

Manuscripts may be rejected if they contain plagiarism, substantial unattributed text overlap, duplicate or redundant publication, data fabrication, data falsification, citation manipulation, or other forms of academic misconduct.

Authors may be asked to revise sections of a manuscript when inappropriate or excessive similarity is identified during the editorial evaluation process.

If plagiarism or serious publication misconduct is identified after publication, IJSSS may publish a correction, issue an expression of concern, retract the article, or take other appropriate actions in accordance with the journal’s Publication Ethics Policy.
