Publication Ethics

The International Journal of Social Studies in Sport (IJSSS) is committed to maintaining high standards of publication ethics, academic integrity, transparency, and research responsibility.

The journal follows internationally recognized principles of scholarly publishing, including the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Research Ethics

Authors are responsible for ensuring that their research complies with relevant ethical standards, institutional requirements, and applicable regulations.

Studies involving human participants must obtain ethics committee or institutional review approval where required. Informed consent must be obtained from participants when applicable.

Authors should clearly report ethics approval information, including the name of the approving institution and approval number, where relevant.

Author Responsibilities

Authors are responsible for:

  • submitting original and unpublished work

  • ensuring that the manuscript is not under consideration elsewhere

  • accurately reporting research methods, findings, and sources

  • properly citing all relevant literature

  • obtaining ethics approval and informed consent where required

  • declaring conflicts of interest

  • reporting funding sources

  • providing accurate authorship and contribution information

  • ensuring that all listed authors have approved the submitted and final versions of the manuscript

Editor Responsibilities

Editors are responsible for:

  • ensuring fair, impartial, and timely editorial evaluation

  • protecting the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts

  • avoiding and managing conflicts of interest

  • assigning manuscripts to appropriate and independent reviewers

  • making editorial decisions based on academic quality, originality, relevance, ethical compliance, and reviewer recommendations

  • addressing suspected ethical misconduct objectively and confidentially

Reviewer Responsibilities

Reviewers are responsible for:

  • providing objective, constructive, and confidential evaluations

  • declaring conflicts of interest before accepting a review invitation

  • evaluating manuscripts within their areas of expertise

  • avoiding personal criticism or unsupported judgments

  • informing the editor of suspected plagiarism, duplicate publication, data manipulation, unethical research conduct, or other serious concerns

Publication Misconduct

IJSSS does not tolerate:

  • plagiarism

  • duplicate submission or duplicate publication

  • data fabrication or falsification

  • inappropriate authorship

  • citation manipulation

  • undisclosed conflicts of interest

  • unethical research practices

  • misleading reporting of research findings

If ethical misconduct is suspected or identified, the editorial team may request clarification from the authors, reject the manuscript, publish a correction, issue an expression of concern, retract the article, or take other appropriate actions in accordance with publication ethics principles.

Authors, reviewers, and editors are expected to cooperate fully in investigations of suspected misconduct.
