Author Guidelines

Authors are invited to submit manuscripts to the International Journal of Social Studies in Sport (IJSSS) through the journal’s online submission system.

Before submitting a manuscript, authors should carefully review the Author Guidelines, Writing Rules, Submission Checklist, and relevant journal policies.

All submissions must:

  • fall within the aims and scope of IJSSS

  • be original and not previously published

  • not be under consideration by another journal

  • comply with the journal’s ethical and formatting requirements

  • be prepared for double-blind peer review

  • include all required author information, declarations, and supporting documents

Authors should submit the anonymized manuscript file separately from the Title Page to protect author identity during the peer review process.

All manuscripts are subject to preliminary editorial screening before peer review. Submissions that do not comply with the journal’s scope, ethical principles, academic standards, or submission requirements may be returned to the authors for technical revision or rejected without external review.

Manuscripts may be submitted throughout the year.

Submission Preparation Checklist

Writing Rules

Manuscripts submitted to the International Journal of Social Studies in Sport (IJSSS) must be prepared in accordance with the IJSSS Manuscript Preparation Guide and the official Manuscript Template.

Manuscripts must be written in English and prepared for double-blind peer review. The main manuscript file must not contain author names, affiliations, acknowledgements, or other information that may reveal author identity.

In-text citations and references must follow the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 7th edition (APA 7).

Authors should follow the journal’s requirements regarding:

  • manuscript structure and organization

  • title, abstract, and keywords

  • headings and subheadings

  • tables and figures

  • citations and references

  • ethical statements

  • author declarations

  • data availability

  • AI use disclosure

  • formatting and submission files

Authors are strongly encouraged to use the official Manuscript Template when preparing their submissions.

Manuscripts that do not comply with the journal’s writing and formatting requirements may be returned to the authors for technical revision before editorial evaluation.

Authors retain the copyright of their published articles. By submitting a manuscript, authors grant the journal the right to publish and distribute the work.

Names, e-mail addresses, institutional information, user account details, submission data, reviewer information, and other personal information entered into the journal system are used exclusively for the editorial, peer review, publication, administrative, and communication processes of the journal.

Personal information will not be used for purposes unrelated to journal operations and will not be disclosed to third parties except where required by law or necessary for legitimate editorial, publishing, technical, or administrative processes.
